When he accidentally steps on a fairy prince, Calen Ambrose (aka Magnus, son of Camen), suddenly sees into a world of magical creatures he never knew existed and finds himself in possession of special abilities he can't control. He is not happy for the interruption into his quiet life as a clock repairman. And he's definitely a reluctant champion. But after learning of the evil planned by the Dark Ones, he can't ignore the innocent creatures who need his help. During his classic hero's journey, Calen meets many magical creatures known only to mythology, including centaurs, a bugbear, unicorn, dragon, a beautiful sorceress and many others. Most importantly, he comes face to face with his Creator and begins to rely on His strength and wisdom. The author's creative descriptions make the reader feel like he or she has also stepped on a fairy prince and can now see into the hidden realm of the fae. I was caught up in the story quite quickly but be forewarned, this is the first book in a trilogy so don't expect a tidy conclusion at the end of Volume 1, which is only the beginning of a battle between good and evil. The first book includes much world building and introduction to the principal combatants in an upcoming war. I expect more character development and action in the sequels. Note: I only give 5 star ratings to the very best books I've ever read, so this is a high rating from me.Product details

I'm not usually a fan of fantasy but this book was so much fun to read that I am now looking forward to reading the next in this series to see what happens to the main character. Definitely a cliff-hanger at the end. Write fast, L.L. Bower!
This is a great book. Believable characters and s smooth writing style kept me immersed in the plot. I appreciated how the fairies seemed well researched and stayed in character. I find it refreshing when an author creates a world and the plot stays true to the "rules" of the world. I look.forward to more books so I can visit again.
